Research

My dissertation explores the circular economy of plastic waste in Thailand. That is, how do circular economy stakeholders revalue plastic? I am particularly interested in how social identity mediates engagement in circular economy solutions. My dissertation builds on my master’s research, including over 30 interviews and two months of participant observation in Bangkok. I’ve previously studied the role of ‘expertise’ and the politics of knowledge production (e.g., prominent global rankings on marine plastic waste) that shape Thailand’s anti-plastic waste initiatives.
